Who makes SnapDeck AI

SnapDeck AI is built by Robert Jensen, founder of 12F ApS, a software company in Denmark. It is not a venture-funded team or a content farm — it is one developer and a short list of apps, of which SnapDeck AI is one.

The app came from a straightforward observation: making flashcards by hand is the single biggest reason people never get round to using them. Twenty to forty minutes of copying a chapter onto cards is time spent transcribing rather than learning, and most people quietly give up somewhere in the middle. When Apple shipped on-device Foundation Models with Apple Intelligence, the transcription step stopped needing a person — or a server. SnapDeck AI photographs the page and writes the cards, entirely on the phone.

Who writes the blog

The study blog is written under the same name. I am a software developer, not a cognitive scientist, and the posts do not pretend otherwise: they are practical write-ups of study methods that have a real research literature behind them, and every post links the primary sources it leans on so you can read the original rather than take my summary for it.

Where the evidence is strong — retrieval practice beating re-reading, spacing beating cramming — the posts say so plainly and cite it. Where it is a matter of what works for a given person, they say that too. The aim is advice that survives contact with a real week of revision, not a list of tips.

What the app actually does

  • Turns a photo of a textbook page, lecture slide, whiteboard or handwriting into question-and-answer flashcards.
  • Imports PDFs, or takes text you type or paste.
  • Runs the AI on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence — no internet connection needed, nothing uploaded.
  • Tracks what you have mastered per deck, with streaks, XP and honest progress stats.
  • Requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later running iOS 26, and is available in 39 languages.
  • Free for three new decks a month. Premium is a one-time purchase that removes the limits — there is no subscription.

Privacy, briefly

There is no account, no sign-up and no upload. Your photos, PDFs and decks stay on your device, which also means there is nothing on a server for anyone to lose or look at. The privacy policy spells out the details.

This website uses Umami for privacy-focused analytics — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no personal data.
